I didn't do one of these last year, a gift guide for the little ones, because the thought didn't even seem to cross my mind. Now, a full year later (really, not that much time), half the people I know either seem to be having children or are expecting. What is happening here!?! Anyway. Throughout my search while making this gift guide, I discovered the J.Crew pretty much tops every site with cutest baby and kids clothes. That reindeer onsie? I'm absolutely obsessed. The baby photos on the site are beyond cute also...

When I was younger, there were some staples I had, that I think every baby/child should have at some point in their life. Steiff stuffed animals have been around forever. I have quite the collection of their bears and such, and still have my favorite Steiff leopard from way back when. They are amazing quality, and something that any child will have forever - and pass on down to their children. Saks has a great assortment of them available. The Polar Express book is another one. It's a classic. Grab them the movie to go along with it while you're at it! As for clothing, I came home in the Patagonia fleece onsie (kind of like this one) from the hospital, so I'd highly recommend their baby and kids clothes. This little down sweater is just beyond cute - you could always do the mom/baby set and grab them both one!

Holiday Gift Guide: For the Fit Friend

1. Athleta Coaster Pant // 2. Target Kettle Bell Set // 3. Lululemon Weekend Warrior Bag // 4. Nike Compression Shorts // 5. BKR Water Bottle // 6. Theory Sports Bra // 7. Lucy Techy Hat // 8. Happy Plugs Headphones // 9. Gap Tech Half-Zip // 10. Gap Motion Tank // 11. Lululemon Yoga Mat // 12. Athleta Revelation Tight // 13. Stamina AeroPilates Magic Circle Kit // 14. Nike Internationalist Sneakers // 15. Aether Elevation Shell // 16. Aether Elite Capri // 17. Soul-Cycle Hoodie // 18. Jawbone Fitness Wristband // 19. Aether Gift Card // 20. Equinox Gift Card

We've all got one; the triathlon friend, the cyclist, the friend who has a goal to run 100 marathons throughout her life, the soul-cycle obsessed, the yogi, the friend who never goes a day without hitting the gym, or just the one who likes to look like she works out on a regular basis... Gym clothes are in whether you fall under one of these categories or not. Workout wear has changed it's purpose recently; it is no longer just gym wear. I wear my Lululemon Wunder Under leggings day and night, with boots, heels, you name it (and all day everyday in the winter months). Athleta makes a wide variety of cozy, casual yet chic sweaters, and even a cashmere line. Not stuff you'd see me sporting at the gym...

I just discovered the brand Aether, and I'm totally hooked. They not only make great exercise clothes, they have super cool ski clothing and outwear as well as cozy, casual clothing. I'm just loving some of their jackets - especially this high-neck puffer. If you don't feel like splurging on pieces like this, gift cards are a wonderful idea because you can at least help pay for something, plus the receiver gets to pick whatever they'd like!

For the New Yorkers: Soul-Cycle, Equinox, Barry's Bootcamp, and Pure Barre are all perfect gift card options. The Equinox gyms  have an amazing spa (massages, facials, etc), a juice bar, as well as a gift shop full of amazing (but pricey) work out clothing. This would be my number one choice if I had to receive a gift card. Massage? Yes please. Soul-Cycle has a legit cult following here, and it sure ain't cheap ($35 per class + shoe rental costs). Pure Barre is also extremely popular, and a whole different type of workout. They also have a great selection of clothing (lovinggg this top). As for Barry's, I've never actually attempted it yet, but people rave about this program. They claim to be "the best workout in the world", and they sure aren't cheap either, at $34 a class.

So, get to it! Happy shopping!

Holiday Gift Guide: Investment Pieces for Him

Arcteryx Beta Jacket // Mark & Graham Monogrammed Cufflinks // L.L.Bean Bean Boots // Orvis Leather Gloves // GiGi New York Leather Duffle // Frame Denim Slim Fit Jeans // Barbour Sapper Jacket (on sale here!) // Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses // JW Hulme Slim Briefcase (on sale!!!) // Tod's Gommino Driving Shoes // Wallace & Barnes Belt // J.Crew Italian Cashmere Sweater

This one may look a bit familiar to last week's post. It's pretty much the men's version! Yes, a lot of the items are similar - I think closet staples for men and women are pretty much the same across the board, with a few minor variations of course.  Take this one with a grain of salt though; a lot of the things on the list were inspired by my father and his classic and active lifestyle. Although, I do think that they are all great picks for any man (worth investing in of course)!

The leather duffle is exactly the same as the one I posted on the women's list - his and hers versions, just different colors. Why not, right!? That Arcteryx jacket is absolutely amazing too. I have the women's version, and I use it as a shell when skiing, as a rain jacket in the city, or as just a basic windbreaker. Arcteryx makes their jackets incredibly well; they are very durable and extremely waterproof. Yes, they're an investment, but they are so worth it. As for the Barbour jacket, it serves a different purpose for sure, but my dad has the one above and he swears that it is his absolute favorite casual jacket.

Most of the other things are just staples that I think every man needs in his closet: leather gloves, dark denim (you can wear jeans everywhere these days, so you should probably have a fancier pair), leather driving mocs, classic wayfarer sunglasses and a belt of course. That leather briefcase though, is definitely a big investment piece. The good news? This one is almost 50% off right now!!! JW Hulme makes the most gorgeous leather goods. They have a variety of different briefcases to choose from, as well as a leather weekender duffle that I'm also obsessed with, but it is just a bit more expensive than the one I chose above... But really, how gorgeous is the leather!? If you're in the market for these type of pieces, GHURKA also makes some gorgeous leather goods for both men and women.
