I'm usually one who sticks to simple, slightly modern, but comfortable decor for my home, with the occasional gold or bright colored accent. I love black and white, anything that is fuzzy and cozy, and anything of the brown, beige, cream, or grey shade. I know, sounds a little boring, but I swear it's not! My annual ski trip out West though, usually leaves me longing for a second home, preferably decorated with the perfect ski chalet/western chic interior (if only, right!?). Maybe someday that will come true. Everything about a ski vacation is incredibly appealing to me. Skiing, hot tubs in the snow, hot chocolate, apres ski cocktails, ski towns, western shopping, fires all day long, western bars, apres ski chic outfits, cozy blankets... My list could go on forever. I'd pick this type of vacation over the beach ANY day.
This year's trip to Jackson Hole had me almost bringing home antler lamps, chandeliers, wine bottle holders.. you name it really. Luckily, I didn't splurge on any of those pieces this time. For now, I'll stick to the more feminine painted antlers you can find a Etsy or ZGallerie for my little city condo so it doesn't look completely out of place. I will always love the typical cowhide rug, antler anything, leather couches, Navajo blankets and sheepskin that Western homes usually have filling their interiors. Someday, maybe my dream will come true and I'll get my perfect second home out West. Until then, below are a few of my favorite "chalet chic" picks:
