Holiday Gift Guide: Investment Pieces for Him

Arcteryx Beta Jacket // Mark & Graham Monogrammed Cufflinks // L.L.Bean Bean Boots // Orvis Leather Gloves // GiGi New York Leather Duffle // Frame Denim Slim Fit Jeans // Barbour Sapper Jacket (on sale here!) // Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses // JW Hulme Slim Briefcase (on sale!!!) // Tod's Gommino Driving Shoes // Wallace & Barnes Belt // J.Crew Italian Cashmere Sweater

This one may look a bit familiar to last week's post. It's pretty much the men's version! Yes, a lot of the items are similar - I think closet staples for men and women are pretty much the same across the board, with a few minor variations of course.  Take this one with a grain of salt though; a lot of the things on the list were inspired by my father and his classic and active lifestyle. Although, I do think that they are all great picks for any man (worth investing in of course)!

The leather duffle is exactly the same as the one I posted on the women's list - his and hers versions, just different colors. Why not, right!? That Arcteryx jacket is absolutely amazing too. I have the women's version, and I use it as a shell when skiing, as a rain jacket in the city, or as just a basic windbreaker. Arcteryx makes their jackets incredibly well; they are very durable and extremely waterproof. Yes, they're an investment, but they are so worth it. As for the Barbour jacket, it serves a different purpose for sure, but my dad has the one above and he swears that it is his absolute favorite casual jacket.

Most of the other things are just staples that I think every man needs in his closet: leather gloves, dark denim (you can wear jeans everywhere these days, so you should probably have a fancier pair), leather driving mocs, classic wayfarer sunglasses and a belt of course. That leather briefcase though, is definitely a big investment piece. The good news? This one is almost 50% off right now!!! JW Hulme makes the most gorgeous leather goods. They have a variety of different briefcases to choose from, as well as a leather weekender duffle that I'm also obsessed with, but it is just a bit more expensive than the one I chose above... But really, how gorgeous is the leather!? If you're in the market for these type of pieces, GHURKA also makes some gorgeous leather goods for both men and women.

I'm kicking off this season's gift guide series with a BIG one... Timeless, quality investment pieces (and closet staples) for any woman in your life. I think Christmas is the time of year when most girls put the things on their list that they wouldn't (or couldn't) purchase for themselves. Why not add that Michele watch you've been lusting after for years? I sure have! Every woman needs a classic pair of Louboutin's, a Burberry trench, and a David Yurman "cable classics" piece (any of them really... necklace, ring, bracelet), in her closet. If you live in a cold weather climate like me, there is absolutely nothing better than the warmest (and chicest) down parka money can buy. Seriously, Canada Goose guarantees that they are the warmest parka on the market. Polar Vortex what? An LBD is a given in every single woman's closet, but this one is just to die for, and is so worth the investment. That baby will never go out of style.

Leather gloves aren't a huge investment, but get a neutral colored pair, and you will wear them with absolutely everything in the winter months. Plus, they finish off a cold weather look so perfectly, and why not personalize them by adding a monogram while you're at it? It's the perfect gift. The Stuart Weitzman Lowland's are a no brainer. They are by far the most gorgeous suede over-the-knee boots ever made in my opinion, and they come in a variety of amazing colors. Oh and those skinny jeans by 7 FAM? I just bought them, and they've been added to my list of closet staples. The slim illusion really do what they say they will... They are the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn, look incredible on, and make you feel like a million bucks all at once!

I could go on and on about all the pieces I think should be in every girls closet, but I won't. Hopefully this post inspired you while looking for gifts for your mom, sister, daughter, wife, etc. or even inspired you enough to add one or two of the pieces to your own Christmas list (half of them are on mine!). Conveniently, Nordstrom carries most of the items above for a one-stop shopping experience (I tried to link a lot back to their site). A few more of my favorite investments pieces and staples are below too, and a men's version to come next week... Happy shopping!
