The Casual Classic / Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites

Dana Ryder November 7, 2014

I've been doing a lot of pinning this week, and there is just so much inspiration for fall and the holidays going around right now, I couldn't help but do a post about it. My friend Amanda also tagged me in a post to talk about all my fall favorites, so I thought, what better time than now to do so?

The Casual Classic // Fall Favorites

1. Favorite fall lip product?

Dior Creme de Rose. All year long. It doesn't change no matter what season, this stuff is incredible and by far my go-to lip balm. It is definitely worth the price, and lasts forever.

2. Favorite fall nail polish?

Lincoln Park After Dark or Midnight in Moscow by OPI. But pretty much any thing that is either black, grey, dark purple or dark brown. I guess I'm a little goth in that aspect...

3. Favorite Starbucks fall drink?

Non-fat Chai Tea Latte. I know, you're probably surprised to hear that it isn't a PSL. I don't actually love those, nor do I love the ingredients I hear that are in them... Not that a Chai Tea Latte is much better I'm sure. My main go-to all year-round is an Americano, hot or icred, but when I want to treat myself, its the Chai.

4. Favorite fall candle?

This is one that I burn year-round, because I'm absolutely 100% obsessed with the scent, so I don't know if you can call it a fall candle, but it's the Salt Flats Candle that they sell at the local Mainsai store (but you can also buy online). By the way, if you haven't been, you gotta go. They have the most gorgeous bracelets and really unique dry goods. This candle would for sure be my second choice though.

5. Favorite fall accessory?

This. And this. Oh, and these. Really, I don't know if it's possible for me to pick a favorite accessory for the fall. I have a slight obsession with scarves, and just picked up this Club Monaco one, so that's at the top of my favorites currently. Boots too of course. I've been big into the booties this fall, and these are my #1 pick currently (as you can tell from this post). They're also on sale...

6. Haunted house or haunted hayride?

Neither. I'm a BIG HUGE baby and would have nightmares for months.

7. Favorite Halloween movie?

Is that even a question? Hocus Pocus! I'll reiterate Amanda here... scary movies for wimps.

8. Favorite candy to eat on Halloween?

Reece's Peanut Butter Pumpkins.

9. What is your favorite thing about fall?

See the above photos... The colors. The temperatures. The fashion. The coziness. Family & holidays. Fires. Warm comfort food. Everything.

Whether it's a simple accent to an entire wall, dark saturated jewel tone colors give a room so much character. The rich tone of these colors can really spice up a room, big or small. I've been swooning over the blue, teal, and purple velvet couches that have been appearing more and more often these days. They are the perfect accessory to an otherwise simple room. What do you think about adding some dark, rich colors to your place?

Aloha

Dana Ryder November 5, 2014

There is just something about drinking a green juice or smoothie that makes me feel like a million bucks. I'm a major believer in getting in your greens, and try to get at least a few into my diet on a daily basis. Sometimes, that isn't always the easiest thing to do (nor do most people feel like dropping $10 on a green juice from Juice Press on the reg). This is where ALOHA comes in. I discovered ALOHA Daily Good Greens a few months ago when a friend mentioned to me that they used it, so I decided to try it out. Needless to say, I'm slightly obsessed. It's almost easier that drinking a green juice! The Daily Good Greens is a powder full of all the essential super foods you need on a daily basis - such as coconut, wheatgrass, lemon, ginger, spirulina, spinach and more. Every ingredient is organic, and it's jam packed with everything you need to make your skin radiant, boost your immune system, and give you energy.

I wasn't kidding was I? The ingredients speak for themselves. Another awesome benefit of this power is the fiber - it really does fill you up, even if you're only mixing it with water, although I wouldn't recommend that. It definitely tastes best in a smoothie or mixed in with something that has a flavor. One of my favorite ways to drink it, if I don't have the resources to make a smoothie, is with coconut water.

It is incredibly easy to incorporate into your daily routine, whether you throw the powder in a smoothie, into water/juice, or into your yogurt/oatmeal in the mornings. It doesn't taste bad at all (it's sweetened naturally with coconut), and if you put it in the right recipe, you can't even taste it! Speaking of recipes... ALOHA lists some great recipes and ways to incorporate your powder into your foods on their website. My absolute favorite, go-to smoothie recipe is below.

Dana's Daily Good Smoothie

  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup raspberries
  • a few strawberries
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 pouch ALOHA Daily Good Greens
  • 2 large handfuls of kale (or spinach)
  • Optional: 2 scoops protein powder (I include this if I'm drinking the smoothie after a workout)

PS: ALOHA is on sale on Gilt today! Pick it up for 45% off here.
