I've been meaning to do this post for a WHILE, so today, I'm finally going to tell you guys a little bit about my winter skin care routine, as well as some of the all natural products that I've started to incorporate into my daily regimen.
More and more articles have been coming out lately that talk about the effects of the harsh chemicals in every day products that we use. So for a while now, I've been slowly switching everything I use on my body, hair, and around my house to natural, non-toxic products. It's taken a bit of trial and error (and a bit of investment), but I promise you, it's totally worth it and you WILL see results. I'll talk a little more about that below though.
These two are what I start and end my day with. Not pictured here is my face wash I use before applying any serums/moisturizers. I actually don't usually wash my face in the AM - especially in the winter. It's super drying and can strip your skin, especially if you already have dry skin. I wash my face thoroughly before bed and usually either do a mask or an exfoliating treatment, so in the mornings, I'm good to go.
Now I know I was preaching about all natural products, but the NuSkin products aren't completely organic/all natural like the other things I use. BUT, NuSkin absolutely uses the best ingredients on the market and they have extensive scientific research behind all of their products that prove they work. Plus they have a whole line of vitamins and supplements, which just goes to show they know what you should be putting in and on your body.
I start with the Ageloc Future Serum, which I massage into my face after washing, and I use this both AM and PM.This serum is like gold - it has a ton of anti-aging properties and also helps with the firmness of the skin. Yes, it's a little pricey, but it lasts me a couple months at least. Next, I use one of the little Truface Essence Ultra pearls which I apply all over my face in an upward motion. Since these are so pricey, and I'm still in my 20's, I don't really need to use this both AM and PM. I usually just do one of these before bed for maintenance. These pearls really work - just check out these before and after photos! It's SO worth the price.
Next comes the moisturizing step. I always make sure I leave a little time between each step so the products can soak into my skin. I have extremely dry skin in the winter, and had a hard time finding anything natural that completely quenched my skin. I bit the bullet and finally invested in the Tata Harper Reparative Moisturizer which was created for mature, dry skin, and it has been so worth it. It's full of natural, organic, non-toxic ingredients, plus it smells great and works too! A little goes a long way with this stuff fortunately.
The next and final step is a facial oil. Now I've tried many oils, and found a few I liked, but a lot of them are just too oily for the day time. I found this oil just recently, and my skin has never been happier. It has amazing ingredients that nourish and heal your skin, as well as thoroughly moisturize. Just dab a little bit on your skin after applying the moisturizer (or you can mix it with the moisturizer). I swear, when I'm wearing this oil, my skin glows. It also works great under my makeup!
I'm absolutely in love with all the Benshen products and the inspiration behind them. Invest in a good face oil, no matter what type of skin you have (yes, it works on oily and blemish prone skin too)! I promise, you will see results.
I've told you guys this in the past, but I do have a little issue with psoriasis from time to time (on my body), so I am extremely careful with what I use all over. I discovered the Pure + Fresh line at Tony Walker when home in Buffalo over Christmas, and what I love about it is that it was discovered and is made locally. It's also all vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, and full of natural, good for you ingredients. I have a slight obsession with the body butter - it is just to die for. It's not oily, sticky, or thick, and yet it leaves skin silky smooth and extremely moisturized all day long. Plus, I love that they use essential oils to give it a fragrance. I'm addicted to the vanilla scented one!
So there you have it! My face and body routine every day! Not too complicated, but extremely effective for me. I promise you, my skin has never been better. Please feel free to email me or comment any questions you may have - I can also recommend alternate products that I've tried that may be a little more budget friendly too, but what I've learned is that your skin really is worth investing in... You will have it all your life!
