I've never been a big hat girl, but lately I've taken advantage of the fedora/panama hat trend. I love how you can throw one on with a simple maxi or summer dress, shorts and a tee, or a bathing suit cover up. Its the perfect accessory when you're having a bad hair day or just when you don't feel like doing your hair. I grabbed this one at a little stand in NYC years ago ironically, and just now have started to wear it. The Cuyana Panama Hat is next on my list - I love the colors and the wider brim. If you're looking to splurge a little, the Rag & Bone version is beyond amazing. Some more of my favorites are below.

I know... I said I never wear prints, but this summer, I haven't been able to get enough of the florals! The soft, watercolor versions have been so perfect, and so far from obnoxious, as floral prints usually are. I hunted for this dress. It sold out pretty quickly (I searched the entire web for you guys but just can't find it anywhere!), but this version is pretty darn cute also. I plan on wearing this dress to weddings, during the day, for a night out... the possibilities are endless!

By the way, Piperlime is offering 20% off site wide (use code FALL20)!

"The true way to live is to enjoy every moment as it passes, and surely it is in the everyday things around us that the beauty of life lies." - Laura Ingalls Wilder

We all do it. We tune out the world around us, trying to focus on the future and what is coming next, instead of paying attention to the present and actually enjoying it. How many times have you actually just stopped and taken in your surroundings? We're all guilty of always being in a rush - we've been trained to be that way in this society of ours. The world passes by so incredibly fast, that we miss a lot of the little things. Sometime, just pause and look at what is going on around you. Take 5 minutes to just stop and absorb your surroundings. Take this green door for example - it's not something that someone would usually stop to look at, as it is smushed in between a weird knick-knack store and a coffee shop. But isn't it incredible? The colors, the intricately painted black and gold iron on the door... It's definitely something worth looking at.

Anyway, about the outfit... This is my go-to, semi formal, but somewhat casual outfit that I wear all season long. I'd wear it to a wedding, during the day if I'm feeling fancy, or just out for a night. There is nothing more comfortable, flattering, and chic than a silk maxi. They are incredibly versatile, and this J.Crew one is beyond gorgeous - I wish I had grabbed more colors when I had the chance. Good thing they made an identical version. I just may love the back of this one even more... Tibi has a beautiful version also - another great option that also comes in a beautiful blue color (in addition to the black)!

And don't forget... life passes you by so quickly, make sure you stop and enjoy the world around you, because the present is something you can never get back.
