I have very fine hair, or what I like to call baby hair. It is extremely high maintenance, breaks somewhat easily, but because it's so fine, it needs to be washed frequently. Overall, its just quite difficult to keep healthy. I don't flat iron it and very rarely curl it, so my usual style consists of a low pin up type style, a high messy bun, or I'll just wear it down. I'm big on the easy, "no fuss" look, like the photos above, and am always looking for a little inspiration on how to construct it so this would probably be considered my every day hair style. The first photo is my absolute favorite - I'm in love with her little top knot, and how simple but pretty it looks.

To get a look like these, I usually start with a little bit of texturizer (such as dry shampoo or Oscar Blandi texturizing spray), and "day old" hair, since it always has better texture the day after you wash it. This may sound weird, but baby powder is also a great alternative to absorb any access oil and give your hair some extra volume. Don't brush it after adding the product - the messier the better. I then usually add the tiniest bit of oil to my ends (my go-to is the Josie Maran Argan Oil) and make a pony tail. Next, I'll twist my hair around my fingers a few times and pin it in a low messy bun with a couple bobby pins. Finish it off with some medium hold hair spray and you're done! I like to call it the messy french twist. Some of my necessary every-day hair products are below!

Casual Classic Blog. Beauty Routine

Makeup Essentials

Dana Ryder September 10, 2014

Recently, I've switched up my beauty routine a bit. I had been following the same exact routine regarding my primer/foundation/concealer combination for years, but when BareMinerals came out with their liquid foundation, I decided I absolutely had to go and check it out. Of course, a trip to Sephora never fails to leave me at least $100 poorer, and a few new products richer. This time, I left with three new products, and a whole new beauty routine.

I used to use Smashbox primer, which I still absolutely love and never found a thing wrong with, but one of the Sephora girls convinced me that the Stila One Step Correct serum (which is not even technically a primer) was a miracle worker. Well, she was right. It's a serum that has a specific mineral complex that mixes together to give you a flawless foundation to work with while nourishing the skin. It reduces redness, corrects fine lines, and improves skin tone all at once. Also, it works wonderfully as a primer. I have very sensitive skin, and this product just makes my skin even better. Let's just say that I'm completely obsessed.

Next, I ended up picking up an incredible new concealer: Dior Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer. Dior products always seem to be above and beyond in quality (and price of course), but I had never tried their concealer. I tested this out under my eyes where I always need it, and it was like night and day. I bought a shade lighter than my skin so that it brightens that area, and boy does it work. I never leave the house without this little tube now.

And now the main thing that I actually visited Sephora for: bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation. Now that is one long ass name! This stuff is everything I expected it to be and more. No, I didn't buy the accompanying brush. I felt that a lot of the product would end up getting lost in that brush, and I didn't want to waste a drop. I smooth this foundation on after my serum and concealer, and it leaves the most flawless, perfect coverage - not too thick but just enough. The color also matches my skin perfectly. I used to use bareMinerals original powder foundation, and I will never go back. bareMinerals really nailed it this time... This stuff is incredible.

Spring Beauty Essentials

Dana Ryder June 5, 2014

bareMinerals Bareskin Foundation // Bobbi Brown Art Crayon // Josie Maran Argan Oil
St. Tropez Bronzing Spray // Dove Dry Shampoo // Dior Creme de Rose Lip Balm
Boscia Luminizing Black Mask // Organix Argan Oil Lotion // NuSkin Renu Hair Mask

Lately, I've been trying a lot of new beauty products, from hair masks, to lipsticks, to face oils, so I decided no better time to write some quick reviews of everything I've tried lately, as well as a few of my favorite go-to products. Coming from someone who is extremely picky with all beauty products, not everything ends up in the win column for me. I have very fine hair, and a lot of products either make it greasy or weigh it down. I also have super sensitive, fair skin, meaning I have reactions to many products and break out pretty easily.

That being said, many of the products I've tried recently have been absolutely amazing and I am beyond excited with most of my new goodies. The lipstick thing has probably been the most difficult for me though. I have never felt that I am someone who pulls off lipstick easily, so I literally spent about 2 full hours in Sephora a couple weeks ago. It seemed to be worth it, because I left with a gorgeous raspberry lipstick (above), as well as a list of others that looked good. That, and super chapped lips that took a couple days to recover...
